Motherhood Expanded

This is not your typical motherhood book.
This is a portal.

This volume of The Sovereign series is for the mothers who were transformed, not just by birth, but by who they became in the becoming. The women who weren’t broken by motherhood, but broken open by it. Who saw their children not just as responsibilities, but as sacred mirrors. Teachers. Guides. Keys.

Your Lead Author: Kim Marshall

Kim Marshall is a mother of 2 and founder of Roots and Wings Childhood. As a parenting coach, she works online to serve an international audience. Kim helps mothers unlearn and relearn what it takes to mother themselves and their children with connection instead of control. Her holistic approach to understanding behaviour and relationships guides families towards emotional safety. Kim has a passion for supporting mothers who want to grow in their conscious awareness and move from surviving to thriving with small shifts that make a big impact.

Kim provides highly personalized private and group coaching experiences that integrate mindset, strategy and somatic work. She believes that parents have the potential to be leaders in their homes and are being invited to create a vision for family life that is outside of cultural norms and expectations. With the goal of protecting childhood and empowering parents, Roots & Wings Childhood has helped hundreds of families honour their innate wisdom to re-parent themselves and break generational cycles.

Kim lives with her husband and their two daughters outside of Halifax, Nova Scotia. You can find her on Instagram at @rootsandwingschildhood.

Our Co-authorship Program

Writing Support

Through our writing program, you will receive support from your lead author throughout our 9-week writing cycle. As well, our robust author resources kit provides you with in depth support when it comes to defining your writing style, establishing your story, what to include, what not to include, writing timelines, depth & more.

Community

Most of our authors come into these projects expecting to simply write their story and become a published author. Yet most leave this process with unexpected new friends, and connections. Writing is an intimate experience, and you're in good company with other women. Connect in our group channel, and online during our monthly group support calls.

Full Production

We take care of absolutely everything. Manuscript development. Editing. Proofreading. Interior design. Typesetting. Cover design. Marketing graphics. Marketing, branding & PR training, and launch support. We provide self-publishing services, with traditional publishing value.

Project Timeline (6 months)

Project Preparation - This includes establishing the project concept, selecting a lead author, preparing all launch materials, establishing production timelines, application & onboarding.

Writing Phase  - This includes a brainstorming, first-draft and final-draft phase. Within this period is where our co-authors will also receive support from the lead author, leverage our writing resources & tools, and join our monthly group support calls.

Design - Our design phase is where the cover and interior design concepts are established.

Manuscript - Once the writing process has been completed, the lead author compiles the manuscript to submit to the publishing house.

Production Cycle - During this period, the editing process is completed, followed by the implementation of design, proofreading & total review.

Final Approvals - Co-authors have a chance to sign off on their chapters, and address any minor changes that may need to be made. Followed by the formal publishing house sign off process.

Amazon Upload - The book is then uploaded to Amazon, set with the official live date as per the book's scheduled launch date.

Launch - The book is formally launched on Amazon, with a celebratory kick-off call for authors to invite their friends and family to. There is a strong focus on the launch for a period of 72 hours to climb the charts on Amazon across relative categories.

Post-Launch Debrief - The publishing house team, production team and lead author meet to discuss the project, identifying both successes to celebrate, and opportunities to continue to refine the process for future projects.

All authors have full visibility of the approved timeline for each stage.

We’re calling in stories from women who:

đź“– Experienced motherhood as an initiatory path

đź“– Were reborn through pregnancy, birth, or postpartum

đź“– Are cycle-breakers, pattern-disruptors, and lineage liberators

đź“– Found their wild, untamed selves through raising children

📖 See motherhood not as an identity to lose yourself in,  but a truth to rise from

đź“– Know their children came with medicine, and were willing to receive it

You don’t need to be an expert in parenting.
You just need to have lived something real.
And be willing to share it,  honestly, bravely & sovereignly.

If motherhood cracked you open and put you back together in a way nothing else ever could…
this book is for you.

We know what it’s like to carry a story that wants to be told, and to wrestle with all the reasons not to.

The fear of being too much. Or not enough. The worry of being judged, misunderstood, or exposed. The pressure to get it perfect, or the question of whether it’s even worth sharing at all. At Sovereign Acres Publishing, we don’t just publish stories, we create a deeply supportive space for storytellers. If you’re feeling the pull to finally say it out loud, and the flutter of nerves that come with that… you’re exactly where you’re meant to be.

We’ll walk with you the whole way.
